TED - a school data viewer

Prior to our involvement the school had used cumbersome and complicated Excel spreadsheets for staff to see and analyse reporting data and exam results. Not all staff were comfortable manipulating Excel and the school wanted an easier way to be able to see and use the data.

Following discussion regarding how and when the staff would need to access the data we chose to use C# to construct an application using data extracted from the SIMS database after each reporting period, or after the summer exam results. This allowed staff to access the application on their laptops at home when not connected to the school network. Using the C# "ClickOnce" technology means that the application can be automatically updated after each reporting run.
